• The Balmoral Castle Artist Residency supports visual artists, academics, curators, and individuals of all ages and from around the world through annual grants. These grants are based on a specific theme. In 2025, the theme was "Tricksters, unite!" In 2026, our theme is "Alchemy." For 2027, we anticipate artists exploring love as a practice of freedom. The supported artists live and work at Balmoral Castle in Bad Ems. We work, learn, eat, drink, live, celebrate, publish, and create exhibitions together. Families are welcome. We give each other our attention and time.
• Since 2020, the Artist Residency Schloss Balmoral has been under the management of Mainz Academy of ArtPreviously, the Rhineland-Palatinate Foundation for Culture responsible.
